Why New Blog?

Storm in a Teacup

Often enough I am questioned, which kind or which genre of photography is my favourite and I enjoy the most.  And without a moment's hesitation I give my answer: Abstract photography. Response is generally a confused stare and more daring one will question "What do you mean by Abstract Photography?" And the discussion continues....

I decided to start this blog as a response to the question and as a homage and showcase of genre I capture and I love.

When I capture a photo and go beyond routine, usual or mundane by way of manipulation of the subject whether in camera or by processing , I create an abstract art. ( I prefer to call myself Photo Artist rather than  a Photographer, as photography is an art in all its forms.) A simple tea cup stain, routinely ignored by normal eyes and thing to be wiped off immediately drew my attention as an abstract photo artist. I could give it a multiple meaning , whirl wind, storm, Black hole sucking me into its amazing depth or maybe it is just a brush stroke on the canvas! It is anything but the tea stain for my eyes.

That leads to another question: Do I see in abstract?

  2. Hi Sonali, I suspect there are as many styles of abstract as there are genres within the broader field of photography. It's a style I'm becoming increasingly fascinated with though and will be keen to follow your thoughts as you document your journey. (I don't have a blogger account so not sure if this will post correctly :)

  3. I like your self-description as a photo artist, Sonali, and can relate to your hesitation of relating to the term "photographer.' I think what you've written here describes your work and your approach very well overall. Looking forward to more of your creative endeavors along your journey. Peace.

  5. I love the idea of self documenting of your own journey as an artist. Questions raised by few are still the ignorant minds, but what happens when one doubts own intentions?
I would love to lean on this blog for more of your posts as it will unveil the science of abstract photography.

  7. This is a great idea! The process documentation surpasses many organized classification especially in the world of art. I love the way you create and follow a niche of your own. Abstract maybe a genre or a combination of many genres. How does that matter, really. Keep making them and talking about them.

I would continue to learn and have fun at the same time!

    Cheers!
